Media Smart Librarians Receive Their Digital Kits

As our Media Smart Librarians cohort members finish the program, they are putting together their “wishlists” for a digital kit. Each librarian who finishes receives a $1,000 budget to purchase equipment for their library to help them implement digital and media literacy programming. Items have begun to arrive and we are so excited to see these digital kits making their way into the hands of librarians and their patrons.

Lee-Ann Galli, Reference and Technology Librarian at Narragansett Public Library, received three iPad minis to help expand her popular Stop Motion Animation classes, a program inspired by the Media Smart Libraries workshop put on by RIMOSA. Susan Murphy, School Library Media Specialist at Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School, received speakers and a camcorder in order to take her students media production skills to another level. The most popular items for the digital kits have included iPads, iPods, and other types of tablets. We cannot wait to see what types of programs and lessons are designed with these new tech tools in minds!

Congratulations again to Lee-Ann Galli, Suzanne Jordan, Barbara Miller, Susan Rose, Gail Stokes, and Susan Murphy for receiving your digital kits. The second round of digital kits are being processed and will be delivered to Media Smart Librarians this month.
